Alternatives is delighted to be working with a sustainable energy organisation to find a Marketing and Communications Manager

This is a contract position of 12 months, working a hybrid model with a competitive salary

The Marketing and Communications Manager will provide the highest possible level of support to the CEO, senior leadership team and colleagues on all aspects of promoting services, outcomes, and achievements. The core job function entails developing, executing, monitoring and refining annual communications plan.

The key responsibilities:
  • Provide advice to the CEO, senior leadership team and colleagues on communications and marketing
  • Develop and implement strategies to position the company appropriately
  • Collaborate with other communications managers and implement an annual communications plan
  • Engage with the programme teams to agree achievable communications objectives within assigned budgets to help deliver on business objectives
  • Prepare programme messaging frameworks to maintain consistency of communications
  • Determine efficient and effective channels for delivering the message to the respective audiences
  • Develop detailed briefs for major external agencies including PR, advertising, research and events 
  • Work closely with colleagues to optimise communications opportunities
  • Lead the delivery of corporate, business and consumer marketing 
  • Manage and co-ordinate the activities of direct reporting staff with a particular focus on messaging, publications, PR, events, advertising, and sponsorship
  • Manage the public relations programme, including the press office function, journalist engagement and media monitoring
  • Lead on the sponsorship programme and leverage all possible opportunities
  • Manage the brand including raising profiles while protecting the integrity of the brand
  • Engage suitable external consultants and subcontractors to support communications objectives
  • Measure and report on the outcomes and effectiveness of all activities to relevant stakeholders
  • Manage assigned budgets with strong attention to value for money and governance compliance

Essential Requirements:
  • A Degree in marketing, business, or a related relevant field
  • Minimum five years’ experience in a comparable marketing role leading substantial B2B or B2C marketing and communications campaigns
  • Highly competent in marketing communications with excellent relevant industry knowledge

Key Knowledge and Skills:
  • Practical experience of consumer and B2B marketing and a high level of relevant industry knowledge
  • Good experience of all aspects of communications strategy and the marketing communications
  • A capacity to foster a positive working relationship with colleagues and external stakeholders
  • Flexible approach to problem solving and decision making to ensure the best solution is achieved focusing on the need for greater efficiency and effective delivery
  • Strong analytical skills and data driven thinking
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Well-developed influencing skills
