About the Role

We are now seeking to appoint a Product Development Manager within the Underwriting, Product and Pricing (UPP) function. This is a senior management job reporting to the Head of UPP and you will be expected to play a leading role in all aspects of the business.

In conjunction with the Head of UPP, the product team and working closely with the pricing team, you will be responsible for developing and delivering market leading health insurance products to drive the planned levels of profitability and sales. You will be required to closely interact with the sales and marketing, provider affairs, legal and compliance and claims functions of the business ensuring that all communications relating to products are accurate and up to date.

You should have strong customer-focused commercial experience and should have detailed knowledge of all aspects of product development and management in an insurance role.

This is a Controlled Function role (CF1) and Minimum Competency Code (MCC) impacted role under the Central Bank of Ireland regulatory regime with a number of MCC direct reports.

You will work with the Head of UPP and other Senior Management to agree and implement product changes and constantly monitor market, competitor and product developments in Ireland and abroad to identify opportunities that provide competitive advantage for Aviva Health.

You will identify new business gaps and opportunities for the product initiatives through market research, complaints monitoring and responding to customers needs and develop innovative new products and maintain and improve existing products to meet these needs.

You will manage the product team and build and maintain effective internal working relationships and processes with key external stakeholders to optimise commercial objectives.

You will have an awareness of all legal, regulatory and competitor changes to ensure product range remains fit for purpose and ensure adherence to risk appetite and internal governance standards.

 

About You

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent with an appropriate professional qualification in insurance practice and have experience in a commercially facing role in the insurance industry.

 

You will have excellent awareness of product and portfolio management and competitor product activities, regulations and processes. This will include experience of product and service innovation, business process or concept development.

You will have developed quantitative and financial awareness skills with the ability to translate complex concepts into BAU processes and interpersonal skills to effectively initiate, lead and manage multi-function projects and excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and lead a team.

You will be able to demonstrate excellent business acumen and written and oral communication skills including the ability to present to both internal and external audiences.
