External Affairs Executive
Job description
Alternatives are delighted to be partnering with a global manufacturing company, with a focus on environmental and sustainable policies, to recruit an External Affairs Executive.
Reporting to the Head of External Affairs this role will suit a professional with 1 – 3 years’ experience in external affairs, policy writing, politics or public affairs.
Based in the office in Dublin North 3 days per week, working from home 2 days per week. Onsite parking provided.
Working as part of a global team day to day duties include
Closely monitoring current events and developments in terms of policy announcements and proposed legislative changes.
Analysing relevant policy and legislation
Developing and executing engagement/advocacy plans and strategies.
Responding to public consultations and requests for input, participating in consultation forums.
Preparing messaging, communications, briefing papers and position papers for internal and external use.
Conducting stakeholder mapping and analysis to support developing working relationships with key stakeholders.
Preparing communications and relevant updates for internal stakeholders including senior leadership to share insights and ensure awareness and understanding of strategically important issues.
Conducting research, prepare briefings and speaking notes.
Support with external communications activities to ensure alignment with external affairs priorities and messaging.
Requirements
1-3 years relevant experience.
Third level education in a relevant business field such as politics or social science or communications.
Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work well under pressure while managing multiple competing projects and priorities.
Strong work ethic with ability to be resilient and flexible.
Excellent analysis and communication skills; able to understand complex information and translate it into suitable messaging, reports presentations etc. for different audiences (including senior management and external stakeholders).
Strong IT skills including proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Packages (to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
Additional European language is advantageous.
Passion for environmental issues is a plus.
