The Employee Communication Manager is responsible for leading the relationship with a business or set of businesses, influencing strategic and tactical direction of communication, feeding into overall internal communication strategy for Ulster Bank, and ensuring that requirements and priorities are met. This person is responsible for ensuring that the business is supported effectively across both internal and external communication on reputation impacting projects. 

Deliverables:

·         Become a trusted adviser to the area you support and recognised go-to person for communication generally, working directly with the Leadership team to become a key business partner with excellent working relationships with key stakeholders in their respective business

·         Provide outstanding levels of professional service and support to the business to facilitate business requirements through communications. Champion the Communication Team ensuring that our service proposition is well known and we become first port of call for communication counsel

·         Lead and oversee the development of communications strategy/campaigns/channels offering thought leadership, creativity and innovation to support the relay of key messages into their respective business areas– this may involve some new channels and / or a refresh of the existing ones. 

§  Contribute to and help drive overall employee engagement levels by enhancing communications channels and identifying new communication initiatives

§  Aim for continuous improvement and innovation in the way communication material is created and shared; Monitoring the effectiveness of communication tools through new and existing feedback channels

·         Manage the delivery from brief to production of effective integrated communication campaigns to ensure that financial objectives are achieved  Management and provision of direction for internal and external suppliers ensuring a quality cost efficient output

·         Ability to deputise for the Senior Employee Communications Manager when needed. Assist the Senior Employee Communication Manager in the development and implementation of the annual internal communication plan

·         Work with the Employee Communications Consultant to support their personal development to enhance their communication and trusted adviser capability

Work effectively with other communication and marketing teams, other functions and disciplines

Experience: Relevant experience for the role

 

§  Proven track record of performance in communication planning, delivery and implementation

§  Strong understanding of business strategy, planning and implementation

§  Experience of external supplier selection and management

§  Experience of and ability to work with Senior Management and employees at all levels

§  Experience working in an external or internal Communications or Marketing function in a large organisation

§  Good creative judgement and analysis

Other Significant Role Requirements: Any further key factors which have a bearing on a candidate’s ability to perform

 

§  Excellent verbal and non-vernal communications skills

§  Primary degree in marketing / business / communications and/or at least five years experience in similar role

§  Awareness of all communication media/channels (e.g. IC, PR, Graphics, Social Media)

§  Ability to work to tight and shifting deadlines with frequently changing priorities

§  Strong interpersonal, team working and organisational skills

§  Flexibility and ability to work with ambiguity and uncertainty

§  Attention to detail

§  Record of bringing new solutions forward and a ‘can-do’ attitude
