Success Stories
Since its launch in June 2008 Marketing for Change has gone from strength to strength. Here is a selection of successes that we want to share with you:
Don’t Stop Us Now
Through quick thinking and possibly a little divine intervention Marketing for Change was able to bring a worthwhile cause and an outstanding volunteer together only 3 hours from the initial meeting with the charity!
This is not the usual turnaround time but with your help as volunteers we should be able to repeat it!
Volunteer Talent At Work
Projects have already kicked off including with the Hope Foundation and ChildFund Ireland who had this to say:
“[…]The Marketing for Change Programme has made a huge difference to the Hope Foundation unlike some of the larger charities we don’t have a dedicated Marketing department. So having access to a pool of highly skilled marketers with a desire to give something back, to volunteer their marketing skills for the charity sector is a GIFT. Currently we have three projects running with the program and all three have and are making such a difference to us. Without the Marketing for Change Programme with Alternatives these projects would still be on our wish list, now they are coming true!.. It is helping us to produce well-defined informed projects that bring the right results!![...]” Rosaleen Thomas Marketing, Fundraising Director, The Hope Foundatio
“Just to say massive thanks for the recommendation on the marketing volunteers Carol and Ina and the great support provided. They have amazing experience and bring wonderful value and support so my sincerest thanks on behalf of The Rose Project.”Anne Carthy, General Manager, The Rose Project
“ChildFund Ireland looked for people to carry out two projects – Strategic Marketing & Communications Plan and User-Friendly Website. In less than 3 weeks, we got 5 volunteers interested in our projects. All of them have 10-15 years of marketing experience in senior roles with international organisations. Having met them individually, we made a decision to form a Marketing and Communications committee for ChildFund Ireland where each Marketer has a specific role. […]
Although this project is at a very early stage, we are confident that it will be very successful and will bring our organisation to a more professional level in terms of Marketing and Communications.” Elena Lorigan, Finance and Sponsor Relations Manager, ChildFund Ireland
Golden Spider Awards
Continuum Technologies who built the Marketing for Change website have submitted the site to the Spider Awards (link) this year and, besides having Alternatives full support, our volunteers have stepped up with some great testimonials:
“Quite apart from the fact that I believe the "Marketing for Change" program is an astoundingly clever plan, the website is a joy as well. The design is refreshingly friendly and it was incredibly easy to use, which is vital in a case like this where barriers to engagement could be so damaging. In short, well done to all involved.” Dave Kelly – Creative Director
“Volunteering can really make a difference to the charities we help. It’s great to be able to use my marketing skills and experience for such a worthwhile cause, and to work with people with such commitment, energy and enthusiasm.” Breid Greene – CRM Specialist
“From initially becoming aware of the programme, I used the website to get a full understanding of the programme, review the participating charities and projects and identify the project that I wanted to work on.
The website was central to converting my initial interest in doing something, to my on-going relationship with World Vision and the work that they do.” Peter McLaughlin – Marketing Manager
“I have found the Marketing for Change programme highly professional from start to finish. Each stage has been very well thought out so that it is easy and logical for the volunteer. After the initial contact aroused my interest, I found the website had all the information I needed. It was clear how the programme worked and gave just the right amount of detail on the participating charities and projects. The application process was very user-friendly and via regular feedback you always knew what was happening next. I have been volunteering for a few months now with ChildFund Ireland, a small charity making a big difference to vulnerable children abroad through their child sponsorship programmes." Heather McCann – Head of Consumer Markets
