Alternatives’ is a specialist marketing talent provider. Our focus is on connecting Charities with great marketers Check out Volunteering Centres Ireland for other opportunities to find great volunteering talent.

Q. How involved is Alternatives going to be?

Alternatives will act as an initial advisor on your marketing need. We can assist you in writing the brief for your marketing project and will then post its details on the Marketing for Change website. Alternatives will actively promote the Marketing for Change Programme to the marketing community and will direct interested volunteers to the Marketing for Change website.

Q. Will Alternatives screen Marketing Volunteers before forwarding their details?

Alternatives will do our utmost to forward relevant, quality volunteer details to you. However, it is up to the Charities to screen and interview potential volunteers for your project.

Q. Will Alternatives take responsibility for work completed?

Alternatives will not be involved in the execution of marketing projects and therefore cannot take any responsibility for work delivered by marketing volunteers. This responsibility lies with the Charities who screened and interviewed the volunteer.

Q. Is the Marketing Volunteer liable for work performed?

The Marketing Volunteer is not liable for work performed. Volunteers must seek prior approval from the charity before undertaking anything that might affect the organisation. This includes, but is not limited to, statements to the press, joint initiatives with other bodies, incurring 3rd party costs and agreements involving contractual or financial obligations.

Q. Will the project details, objectives and outcomes be publicised?

To maximise the benefit of the Marketing for Change Programme for all involved, word-of-mouth will be key. To achieve this, volunteers may list their volunteering experience on their CV, PR may be generated on Alternatives’ behalf and you may want to create communication pieces around your experience with marketing volunteers also.

Q. What size can a project be in terms of donated time involved?

As volunteers typically work in marketing on a day-to-day basis we would ask Charities to be as flexible as possible around working times and the possibility for volunteers to giver their time from home.
We would expect out volunteers to give 12 hours a month maximum and each project should not extend beyond 6 months.

Q. Will Charities have to pay expenses?

Yes. But we would urge Charities to agree this during the briefing and interview with the volunteer. Reasonable out of pocket expenses should be covered by the Charities.
