Core Competencies

Professional marketing standards

One of the reasons we rate the Chartered Institute of Marketing so highly is because they are home to the professional marketing standards. These standards have been used in the development of CIM's qualifications and their professional training to make sure that the issues addressed are relevant in businesses today.

At Alternatives we use the professional marketing standards or "core competencies" as we like to call them, to structure the way we approach marketing learning & development projects.

The exact level of competency varies with the seniority of the role you are performing-whether you are a director, a manager, a practitioner or a support level marketer.

For example, in the competency of strategy, a director would be expected to be capable of formulating strategy and investment decisions, whereas a marketing practitioner should be able to contribute strong ideas and information to the strategy process.

Please call Sandra Lawler on +353 (1) 661 8889 for more information on the 6 core competencies and how to develop yours.

Did you know? The level of core competency varies with the seniority of the role you are performing-whether you are a director, a manager, or a support level marketer.

Core competencies match your seniority.
