About Us

The story so far ….

In 2000, Sandra Lawler and Aldagh Mc Donogh took the plunge and went out on their own with Alternatives. Aldagh had needed a replacement for a brand manager on maternity leave, and Sandra needed a marketing consultant, but didn’t know where to look. After they had exhausted their own networks, they realised this could be a business opportunity…

‘We came up with the Alternatives’ marketing idea, which was all about access to flexible, expert marketing talent,’ said Sandra. ‘When we came across this exciting idea, something that we both were passionate about and saw that there was a real need for it in the marketplace, it was an easy decision to go out on our own.’

We felt clients and marketers would be interested in a new model for marketing where marketers on a screened panel could be accessed as and when needed, to solve business issues. Whether a client or an experienced marketer, both could access an alternative way of working in marketing for their benefit (hence the name of the company - Alternatives).

However, apart from the passion & belief our idea could work, we’d only 2 people for our Alternatives panel ...us! We'd no clients, no office, no team, no external or bank funding… So was our passion and belief alone a recipe for success??

Luckily yes!

Alternatives has evolved to be, not only about alternative ways of working and accessing the best marketing talent in Ireland, but also about providing the best knowledge and insight into companies and marketing people, so that companies can attract and develop the best to achieve their market performance.

We could never have anticipated how the market would have changed since 2000. What has remained the same however, is that Alternatives is still as passionate about marketing and has witnessed first-hand the difference great marketing talent can make to businesses success.

Thanks to the support from our superb team - all of whom are skilled and passionate marketers – we know that we will continue to evolve, thrive and grow. We look forward to the future…as a unique company meeting marketers needs, poised for future growth.
